Becoming a disciple: Trust in the truth alone

Scripture – Galatians 4:16

Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?

Sometimes people don’t want to hear the truth. People love you when what you say is comfortable, but they can quickly turn on you when you start drawing lines in the sand. Paul is talking to believers. This is a discipleship letter. He is trying to stop them from becoming religious and from being swayed by those building their own kingdom.

When we communicate truth and organize things according to it, people leave. Jesus had to deal with it in John 6:66 (from this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.) He moved on. So do we.

Father, never let us stray from your truth, no matter how difficult it is to hear. We desire true and devoted disciples, not luke warm butts on seats. There is freedom in truth for the truth will set us free. Holy Spirit continue to consume us, purify us and focus us on Jesus. In the name that is above every name, amen.
