Becoming a disciple: The prayer weapon

Scripture – 2 Corinthians 10:4

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

Prayer works. Prayer is a weapon. Prayer is equipped with divine power.

We have access to a power source that is far beyond our imagination. It’s like we determine the flow of lava from the mountain of God in the direction of demonic and worldly strongholds in our own lives, in the lives of others and in our world.

Like lava, it sometimes seems like it’s a slow process, but there’s nothing that can withstand molten lava once it gets there. Sometimes there’s immediate fireworks and sometimes it’s a slow ooze. But rest assured, prayer releases divine power to demolish strongholds.

Am I purposefully praying to demolish strongholds? Have I given up praying for things because it seems to be taking so long?

Like a military operation, I need to decide upon my next “target”, and schedule specific time to pray for divine power to be released to demolish that stronghold.

Father, you are good. Thank you for this reminder. Bring to my mind the stronghold you want to me demolish next through the power of prayer. Help me never neglect this gift if being hidden in Jesus with access to all the power of heaven. Deepen my faith and my dependence on you today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
